Why is Haribo Called Haribo

Haribo is a German confectionery company founded in 1920. Haribo manufactures all sorts of gummy candies, including cola gummies, peach gummies, cherry gummies and berry gummies, but they are definitely best known for creating Haribo Gold Bears. Haribo was the first company to ever make gummy bears, and they’re now found all over the world.

Why is Mentos Called Mentos

Mentos are the candies that freshen your breath with refreshing minty freshness and, if you have not heard, make Diet Coke explode. Oh, and if mint is not your thing, Mentos also come in fruit flavors, but be forewarned – the fruit flavors will do nothing exciting to Diet Coke. Originally thought of as a peppermint caramel candy, the Van Melle brothers came up with the idea for Mentos during a train trip to Poland in 1932. Van Melle (now Perfetti Van Melle via a merger with the Perfetti Group) was already a very well known confectionary brand in the Netherlands at the time but they were relatively unheard of in the USA. However, by the 1960s Mentos redesigned their packaging into the roll we still see today and took their product global.

Why is Lotus Called Lotus?

The Lotus Engineering Company was founded by Colin Chapman and Michael Allen in 1952. However, the partners split ways within the same year, and so The Lotus Engineering Company Limited was formed by Colin Chapman and his girlfriend—who later became his wife—Hazel Williams, one year later in 1953. The new company was headquartered at the Railway Hotel in Hornsey, North London, where Chapman built race cars in his spare time.
